About us
Who are we?
We are people who belong on the transfeminine spectrum, of any gender expression (butches, non-binary, gender non-confirming...), for lack of a better definition. Politically, we are somewhere on the left-socialist and anarchist scale.
Why a new organisation?
We want to build a place for "us", to put transfems out of isolation. A space where we wouldn't have to worry about cis people, transmisoginy, passing, where we could talk freely about our shared experiences (healthcare, DIY, workplace, relationships...). We feel like current organisations in the vicinity don't provide that yet.
What do we do?
- monthly transfem meetup: right now, this is our most prevalent project. For more information, see our homepage!
- statements: we publish articles and thoughts on the current state of trans rights and politics in the Netherlands. Read them right here!
- and more: as we figure things out, we unveil more projects of ours. Stay tuned!
Principles & ground rules
No fash, no cops, no landlords!
We recognize the dynamics at stake against the LGBT, the poor and the PoC around the world.
You are not allowed to promote or condone, either actively or passively, harmful right-wing politics, or any other kind of discrimination (colonialism, racism, ableism, fatphobia, or others).
Be mindful of others
Act in good faith and assume good faith.
Some topics and contents can be harmful to others. Though not a hard rule, we encourage you to use warnings whenever you deem is appropriate (especially about triggering issues like sexual violences). Try to be specific about the kind of content you're posting under a spoiler tag.
Online etiquette
Be careful what you talk about in public
Be mindful of the privacy and safety of yourselves, the organizers and other people. Think of your own boundaries. Be careful what you reveal to people you don't know. Don't talk about DIY and illegal stuff in public for obvious reasons — ask for a conversation through an encrypted app like Signal if you need to. Don't make it harder for the organizers.
Minors are allowed but there's a few age-restricted (18+) channels. You have to have a validated 18+ Discord profile to access them.
Callout culture can be harmful, too
"We need to believe that we are capable of creating a justice that transforms instead of punishes because we have no other choice" (Kai Cheng Thom)
(more context here)
People who have committed sexual violences recently will be asked to lay low about it, in order not to stress and push out people who were victims of such violences. If you encounter any kind of issue with another member, please contact an admin in private.
What we actually want
We want this place to be a place of mutual respect, where you're free to talk about healthcare, hormones, trans autonomy, left-wing politics, within the boundaries of the previous rules.
Rules are always a WIP
We're not perfect, and neither are those rules. As such, with experience and feedback, rules might evolve over time.
